Day 1: Tocumen Airport - Panama city


Arrival at Tocumen international airport in Panama City. First contact with the country. You will have a private transfer to your hotel. Please hand your travel documents.

Day 2: Panama city


You can spend the day at leisure to discover the Panamanian capital.

For history lovers, we suggest the visit of the archaeological site of Panamá Viejo, which was the former capital of the country before it was destroyed by the famous pirate Henry Morgan. If you love hiking, discover the tropical plants and wildlife on the paths of the Metropolitan Natural Park, located at the limit of the city.

After that, go for a walk at the seafood market where you will find crayfish and tuna as well as other appetizing food coming from the Caribbean and the Pacific before discovering the great colonial neighbourhood of the Casco Viejo (old quarter). This will connect you with the historical past of the country, among the typical alleys and colourful houses that will lead you to the Plaza Francia. You will discover there the art-deco architecture, the cathedral, and visit the Panama Canal Museum.
Of course, do not miss to observe the boats going through the Miraflores Locks.

If the weather permits, we also advise you the visit of the brand new Biomuseo designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry.
At the end of the day, go and have dinner on the Amador Causeway while enjoying an unrestricted view on Panama Bay.

Note: Panama Canal Museum and Panamá Viejo are closed on Monday.

Day 3: Panama city - Transisthmic train - Colon - Portobelo - Puerto Lindo

Early in the morning, private transfer from your hotel to the train station of Corozal.

Embark for a one-hour journey to Colón, on the Atlantic coast, aboard the Panama Canal Railway.

Note: Departure from Panama at 7:15, except on weekends.

Departure for the city of Portobelo, discovered by Columbus in 1502.
Today, Portobelo is a quiet village whose ruins are listed as a World Heritage by UNESCO.
You can visit the remains of the forts of Santiago and San Jeronimo and San Felipe Church that houses the famous Cristo Nazareno or Black Christ.
If time allows it, make sure you visit the Royal Customs building that houses a small museum explaining the history of the area.
Note: 2 to 3-hour drive (during the day).

Day 4: Portobelo - Puerto Lindo


You can spend the day at leisure to enjoy the beaches near the small port of Puerto Lindo (e.g. Isla Mamei or Isla Grande), the historical sites in Portobelo, or go hiking in the homonymous national park.
Today, Portobelo is a quiet village whose ruins are listed as a World Heritage by UNESCO.
You can visit the remains of the forts of Santiago and San Jeronimo and San Felipe Church that houses the famous Cristo Nazareno or Black Christ.

Day 5: Embera Community - Gamboa - Gatun lake


Day dedicated to meeting the Emberas Quera.
A motorboat will take you up the river, to the community.
On the other side of the river, you will be greeted by the cacique (spiritual leader) and the children of the village. Throughout the day, you will discover their way of life and traditions, including the art of tattoos.

They will also share with you their knowledge of medicinal plants, they will show you their traditional dances and together you will go on a small island to watch the monkeys.

Finally, a typical fish dish is served on banana leaves.


In the late afternoon, appointment at the small port of Gamboa or more precisely to the Muelle de la Rampa, the starting point of an immersion in the heart of the Panama Canal and Gatun Lake.
At dusk, you will leave to explore the tropical environment at the time the majority of the animals wake up and take possession of the place. You will come across many insects, crocodiles, and bats while listening to the howling monkeys.
Before being completely lulled by the melody of the forest, transfer to the lodge.
Night in floating lodge.

Day 6: Gatun lake - Gamboa - Panama city


Road to the capital.
Note: 30-minute drive.

Day 7: Panama city - Albrook Airport - Playon Chico


Your private driver will drive you from your hotel to Albrook Airport.

Early morning you will take a flight to Playon Chico.
Take off scheduled for around 6:00, duration: 45 min

Note: Limited weight of luggage (12 kg per person around for checked baggage and 2 kg for cabin baggage)

Once you get off the plane, a boat transfer will take you up to your lodge, it will take about 15 minutes.

Day 8: Playon Chico

Day at leisure to enjoy the heaven-like environment, far from the rest of the world.


You can choose from a series of tempting options: enjoy and rest on the white sandy beaches or on the comfort of a hammock, escape for a few hours on a deserted island, go meet the Kuna Natives and exchange some smiles with the children during a visit to a village in the comarca, enjoy freshly caught lobster or giant crab (depending on the season), explore the corals while snorkeling, discover the ancient art of molas or even take a boat trip in the middle of mangroves and tropical vegetation.

Day 9: Playon Chico

Day 10: Playon Chico - Albrook Airport - Tocumen Airport

Early in the morning, flight to Panama City.

Luggage weight limit is around 12 kg per person for checked baggage and 2 kg for cabin baggage
Take off scheduled for around 07:00, duration: 45 min

Transfer from Gelabert Airport (Albrook) to Tocumen International Airport for your international flight.
Note: depending on your flight schedule, plan a night in Panama City the day before departure.

Bambu Guesthouse is a large comfortable lodge situated in Panama in the small fisherman's village Puerto Lindo. The house is built on the flank of a mountain right at the edge of the Portobelo National Park overseeing the Caribbean Ocean. The Guest House consists of three big rooms with each its own bathroom and door straight into the big luscious garden where one will often encounter the local wildlife like monkeys, sloths and tropical birds.
