OCEAN TO OCEAN PANAMA CANAL TRANSIT

Begin this world famous journey through the Panama Canal by entering the Miraflores locks on thePANAMA CANAL Pacific side where the vessel will be raised in two steps 56 feet above sea level into Miraflores Lake. Then continue to Pedro Miguel Locks, the second set of locks where in one step the vessel will be raised 29 feet to complete the 85 feet above sea level into Gatun Lake.  From here, navigate through the engineering marvel of Gaillard Cut, the narrowest part of the Panama Canal, continue on Gatun Lake, which used to be one of the largest man-made lakes in the world where Barro Colorado Nature Monument is located.     Continental breakfast and light lunch with beverages will be served on board. Arrive at the Gatun Spillway on the Atlantic side, one of the largest earth dams in the world. Enter Gatun Locks where you will descend in three steps into Limon Bay and proceed to the port of Cristobal. The actual canal transit takes about 8 to 10 hours. Transfer from the port of Cristobal to Panama City by bus to hotel in about 1-1/2 hours. 

PARTIAL TRANSIT OF THE PANAMA CANAL

PANAMA CANALThe partial transit of the canal runs every Saturday of the year.  The transit begins at Miraflores Locks, the entrance of the Panama Canal on the pacific side.

Depart from the hotel to Pier 18 and board the ship to begin your transit of Miraflores Locks, where the ship will be raised in a two-step operation 56 feet into Miraflores Lake. From here you will have the opportunity to observe Pedro Miguel Locks. Then return to Pier 18, via Miraflores Locks where the ship will be lowered, allowing you to experience the marvel of this engineering feat.

PANAMA CANAL HISTORY TOUR

Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal. Here you will admire the French architecture and monument to Ferdinand de Lesseps, constructor of the Suez Canal and chief commander of the French attempt to the Panama Canal construction. This place boasts a 280-degree view that covers Old Panama, the modern city, the entrance to Panama Canal and the Bridge of the Americas. From here proceed to the recently opened Interoceanic Canal Museum. On the way, admire our National Theater, the ancient San Francisco Church and some other building of historical interest. Once at the museum you will be exposed to the Panama Canal History. This place will provide a unique exposure to the construction, development and documents such as the Torrijos-Carter Treaty. To conclude, the tour continues to Miraflores locks to see the operation of Panama Canal itself.
