General and Historical Tours
There are three cities in one; Old Panama, Colonial Panama, and Modern Panama.
CITY TOUR

Depart with bilingual guide from the hotel to visit the ruins of "Panama Viejo", the main city founded in the isthmus by the Spanish conquerors at the beginning of the colony. The remaining ruins are the vestiges left by Pirate Henry Morgan, who in 1671 sacked the town. Before continuing to the second city known as Casco Antiguo, a small detour will take you to Altos del Golf, a fancy residential neighborhood where the controversial Dictator General Manuel Antonio Noriega used to live. Casco Antiguo is the colonial city of Panama, built in 1673. The architecture of this area is of exquisite taste including French, Italian and Spanish styles. Visiting St. Joseph's Church and its Golden altar, the main square where you can admire the Cathedral, the Independence Plaza and the recently opened Interoceanic Canal Museum, here you will encounter the history of the Panama Canal construction. Also in this area you find the Presidential Palace, Bolivar Plaza, the National Theatre and the French Plaza which boasts a great view of the modern city.

The tour continues to the Amador causeway that unites 4 islands and is the entrance to the Panama Canal. Lunch at a local restaurant. The Chiva picks the participants at a local hotel where the party begins. The ride includes an open bar of local drinks and a live typical Panamanian band. This is a fun way to enjoy a night tour of the city and the Canal. This tour is from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

FOLKLORIC NIGHT SHOW AND DINNER
Panama boasts one of the richest typical cultures of Latin America. Since the beginning of history, Panama has been a melting pot of races. 3 main groups of Indians, Spaniards, Africans and other minor groups settled in this tropical land bridge. The need of an identity and the contribution given by these ethnic groups defined the Panamanian Folklore. Today, women's typical attire "la Pollera" is considered one of the most beautiful typical dresses of the world. Prices can go as far as $5000 for a complete dress without the jewelry. These dresses are hand sewn. Men's attire is not as fancy but elegant and masculine. The show consists of a layout of typical dances performed by couples dressed in their native customs. The group of musicians play acoustic instruments where the accordion and the hand-made wood and leather drums stand out playing contagious Caribbean rhythms. While the show is on, a typical Panamanian dinner is served.

THE PIRATE TRAIL AND PANAMA CANAL

Panama was important in the Spanish Colonial Period, from 1513, as a crossing between the two oceans. It was the principal mainland settlement of early Spanish Colonial America and a frequent target of piracy. The purpose of this tour is to acquaint the participants with the history of Ft. San Lorenzo and the importance of the Chagres River.Depart from the hotel, crossing the Isthmus through the Trans-Isthmian Highway. Before crossing the Panama Canal over the drawbridge stop at Gatun Locks. The morning is used to explore the locks and the lake. Lunch will be at the Tarpon Club Restaurant, which overlooks the Gatun Spillway, linchpin of the Panama Canal and the Chagres River. After lunch, proceed to Ft. San Lorenzo that was constructed by the Spaniards in the 16th century, and besieged by the British pirates over the years due to its strategic location guarding the entrance to the Chagres River. Sir Henry Morgan captured San Lorenzo and used it as the entrance point to sack Panama City in 1671.
